Mary Millan Klunk - Biography

About the Artist

Mary Millan Klunk

Art is at once personal and public. I paint what I personally find beautiful. While I may enjoy these images myself, if my painting should give someone else a moment of pleasure, then I have achieved both personally and publicly.

Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. I hope you find a view, a color, a gesture or a mood that engages you.

My focus in painting is landscape because of its infinite possibilities, in mood, color, texture and sense of place. I am probably most drawn to the mood aspect, which I try to convey in each piece I do. Even when I paint a still life, I often include landscape. I like the inside-outside aspect, that the objects themselves may enjoy looking out the window or at the paintings on the walls.

After successful business careers in both marketing communications, and language and intercultural services, I returned to painting in 2008. A native New Yorker, I am a graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz. I have studied painting, drawing and printmaking in the Lehigh Valley, PA, at The Barnstone Studios, The Baum School of Art and The Banana Factory. I have lived and worked in Allentown, PA, for many years.

My work has been exhibited in numerous juried regional and national shows. (Please see a list of selected shows in the events section). For many years, I have been invited to be one of the artists represented in the annual Baum School of Art (Allentown, PA) Auction, as well as to the Allentown Art Museum’s Cocktails & Collecting event several years running. Many of my paintings are in private collections.

Please note: Pricing typically depends on the size of the painting. My pricing ranges from $400 USD and up, including tasteful frames. Shipping and handling will be quoted separately. Commissions gladly accepted. Thank you for your interest.
